Spatial Analysis of the Elements of Marital Structure of the Population in Basra City (A Field Study in Population Geography)

The distribution of the population according to civil or marital status affects and is affected by many other demographic characteristics. It is well known that the civil status of the population is not fixed and is constantly changing in terms of size and spatial variation depending on the economic and social conditions of society. The research aims to analyze the elements of the marital structure of the population of Basra City through a geographical and demographic analysis, in terms of spatial distribution and variation, and to identify interconnected and influential relationships. The field study concluded that 73.4% of the population studied were never married, while the remaining percentage was distributed among the remaining segments of the population: married, widowed, and divorced, at a rate of 13.2%. and 4.8% and 8.6%, respectively.
